I just wanted to post a quick thank you to everyone who has reached out to us with concern over the Memorial Day Floods. Thankfully, the Bed and Breakfast and the Canyon Lake area were not affected. In fact, the lake is full now and the Army Corps of Engineers is actually releasing water in an effort to return Canyon Lake back to its conservation pool of 909 feet above sea level. The debris is mostly gone from the main body of the lake and there are boat ramps that have remained open even with the high water. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the towns of Wimberley and Blanco as they work to restore their communities.

2015 Wine Lovers Trail

It is that time of year once again. The 2015 Wine Lovers Trail is set to kick off February 6 – 22, 2015. The trail features 42 Hill Country Wineries . Take this opportunity to explore some of the many Hill Country Wineries located an hour’s drive or closer from Lakehouse B&B.

If you can only getaway for one night Valentines Weekend we do have select rooms available for a Friday night reservation. We also still have a few two night reservations available. Please visit www.thelakehousebb.com to check our availability.

December is a month filled with anticipation as many of us prepare for the Christmas Season. These days are filled with shopping, cooking and list making. If you find yourself in need of a break from these seasonal activities consider a getaway to Canyon Lake. The lake is quiet this time of year as the calm blue waters have bid farewell to the summer’s wake boarders. Ducks and geese have reclaimed the coves and the sunsets are still spectacular this time of year taking on pink and blue hues. We are happy to offer a complimentary winetasting package to Dry Comal Creek Vineyards when you book the Mediterranean Suite for any day in December 2014.

The long hot summer days can make outdoor activities challenging unless water is involved. November and December are perfect months for getting outside to enjoy many of the natural attractions Canyon Lake and the surrounding Hill Country offer. Below is a quick list of some of my favorite outdoor cool month activities:

  • Hiking around the lake and along the Guadalupe River.
  • Fishing on Canyon Lake.
  • Fly Fishing on the Guadalupe River. We are now in trout stocking season.
  • Winetasting While not an entirely outside activity I think walking amongst the vines counts.
  • Canyon Lake Gorge is an educational and exhilarating hike with fossils and dinosaur footprints.

Looking for lights? The Hill Country has some bright options. Many of the towns featured on the map are a short 40 minute drive or closer to Lakehouse B&B.

Johnson City located forty minutes north of Canyon Lake is featuring Christmas programs at LBJ’s home as well as lights all around downtown.

Blanco is holding a Christmas Market the weekend of  the 14th as well as an evening Christmas Parade.

Boerne is holding Market Days the 14th and main street is beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Here is the link with the complete listing of towns featuring Christmas Activities.

Prime Livng Magazine included a brief feature of Canyon Lake in their most recent edition.  Lakehouse B&B was even mentioned!  It is nice being noticed in unique publications like this.  Below is the link.  (Even Jean’s Scone Recipe was featured!)
